Sunday Walk

Here in the Virginia Beach area we’ve been having “interesting weather” lately — for instance, while the rest of the world is currently in a snow blizzard, we have a high of 70 degrees today! What better way to enjoy the weather than to take pictures? This past Sunday, a group of us got together for a “photo walk” – a chance to enjoy the crisp spring air, walk around the beautiful Ghent Village, and of course take some pictures! We chatted about life, laughed, and captured some beautiful portraits. These photos represent friendship, ….friendships both new and old, and of real life and emotion. My heart is SO filled with the blessings, friendships, and pure love that has been surrounding me. Thank you to the Lara, Brittany, and John Brady for being such amazing models (and wonderful friends) on our “photo walk” as we explored the area. Aren’t they b-e-a-utiful? Enjoy <3

Wishful Wednesday ~Kelly Moore Bag~

As I continue to build my photography necessities (delightful lenses, flashes, memory cards, etc), it became clear to me that I would def. need a camera bag, and like *SOON*. One of my dearest friends got me my first camera bag when I first started using the dark room many moons ago (ok, really only 6 years ago – but seems like longer!) The camera bag has been with me through my journey of becoming a photographer – and now holds (and mega protects) my wonderful baby – the 5D Mark II. As it’s important for me to keep everything together, I found a really awesome bookbag in the back of my closet that has major compartments and WaaaaaLA, just so happens that the camera bag fit snugly in the bottom! As my equipment has started to grow in size, I’ve just arranged things to fit, very nicely, … but, kinda… on top of each other. As you can imagine, this makes things incredibly difficult when going on a photo shoot — especially when I need a quick lens swap! Well, this past photoshoot with Lisa-Marie, I decided to place my 24-70mm in the pocket of my jacket as the 50mm was attached to my camera. Everything was going well (except looking extremely disproportionate with a rather large lens BULGING from my pocket) — when all of the sudden, when I got down to ground level for a particular shot, the lens FELL OUT OF MY POCKET!! Since it was so heavy, it must have been pushing on the zipper. Thank GOODNESS I was basically laying down anyway, but this is *NOT OK* Each piece of equipment is treated like a small child — so this was extremely an *uh oh* moment, and both Lisa-Marie and I immediately cringed. After careful inspection – and testing it out – (not a scratch, bump, dent, or bruise!) PHEW! BUT I made an immediate declaration that this cannot and WILL NOT ever happen again. A camera bag is next on the list to be purchased! Besides – every photographer needs an awesome bag that is both functional AND fashionable for photoshoots and especially weddings! Although the book-bag serves as good storage use at home, it’s not functional or really protective on the move during sessions.

Which leads me to this awesome posting! Ever since I got my 5D mark II, I’ve been researching the different camera bags that are both functional and fashionable. If you know me, you know that I make decisions carefully and I have spent MONTHS reading reviews and talking to other photographers. I’ve officially made my decision, and the company/bag that I’m *wishing* for is from Kelly Moore’s AMAZING collection – I mean *WOW* Check these out!!! (www.kellymoorebag.com) The bags are SO great because they are useful, beautiful, functional, and RELIABLE. Which is so so important when it’s carrying such expensive pieces of equipment! (and did I mention my first “children?”) You think I’m kidding….. I’m VERY protective.

ALSO – the Classic Grey has been my favorite since the moment I laid eyes on it. Obsessed. BUT….. It’s also been out of stock since the moment I laid eyes on it (or just goes SUPER quick?) — sad. I’ve gotten word that they are supposed to get more in this month (YIPPPEEEE), but if not, I’ve been toying with the idea of the muted Teal or the Purple (u all know me and purple!) What are your thoughts — what color should I rock out? Suggestions?:-)

So Wishful Wednesday……. those are my thoughts, wants, and in particular desperate NEED. Photographers – don’t put lenses in your pocket. Something bad will come of it (like mine, smart enough to open the zipper!)

Dream Big,

Alicia

Lisa-Marie ~ Portrait

Lisa-Marie and I headed out on a beautiful and *crisp* Friday morning. Little did we know that with the high winds, the temperature was going to feel between 15-20 degrees on the beach! Although we were a bit frozen, we had TONS of fun and got some beautiful portraits. This girl can ROCK any weather condition! Thank you Lisa for braving the weather with me — the results speak for themselves! Enjoy <3

Maritsa Brown - Alicia:

These photos of LisaMarie are absolutely beautiful! AND you, dear one, are a wonderful, wonderful photographer. I’ve continued looking below. Exquisite. Absolutely exquisite. How do I purchase photos of LisaMarie that you’ve taken. Please do let me know.

gladys jem - A-these are awesome. I love the ones of her in the woods holding her dress, and the ones on the beach with the wind and movement in her hair? AH, I absolutely love! I think my favorite is the first one! Rock it girl, shine from within! xo
