Happy Holidays – Personal

I hope everyone had a blessed, relaxing, and joyful Christmas. I can’t believe New Years Eve is tomorrow night, where did this month go? December has been filled with so many happenings. On these last days of 2013, I’m enjoying looking back on the happy that this year brought. Some highlights include – painting and moving into our new house (as we continue to make it a home), enjoying three years of marriage with Eric by my side, our amazing trip to Europe this past Fall (which I’m posting about soon!), and my rockstar of a little nephew that was born 7 weeks early at the beginning of this month. Not to mention my growth as a person & business owner, the very BEST friends/family anyone could ask for, and really starting to feel like the south is my home. Two years of living here and ya’ll slides easily off my tongue and for this new year I want to perfect the art of biscuit making. I am looking forward to all the growth, challenges, and joys that 2014 holds. I hope you enjoyed this holiday season and find some time to reflect on the past year. I’ll be goal setting for 2014 in the next few days, but for today……I’m going to enjoy the memories and thoughts of the blessings that 2013 surrounded me with.

A huge thank you to Amanda Churchill for the gift of being photographed on my birthday for our holiday portraits. We haven’t taken a “real” picture (besides the iphone snaps) of us since our wedding day, and I will cherish these forever. Since I’m so used to taking other people’s portraits, it was strange being on the other side of the lens after so long! Time seems to fly right by, and it’s so important to capture these moments before more years trickle on by.
I hope to capture “us” and our everyday more often.

Heidi Jo & Mike ~ Charlotte NC Engagement

I’ve known Heidi Jo for almost 6 years now (wow has time flown!) My grad school PsyD class only consisted of about twenty of us, so we all easily became close friends and Heidi Jo was one of them. Being in such a small class through a rigorous program, we stuck together for support, laughs, group presentations, the tough situations of life, and milestones/celebrations. So when Heidi Jo first came to me starting to talk about planning wedding dates, my heart nearly burst with happiness for her. Heidi & Mike found each other all the way over in Virginia Beach – where now she is doing her post doctorate year in the Charlotte area and Mike is in the Navy stationed in Colorado. I knew Mike was special the way that Heidi would light up talking about him; and when they are together? It’s like they have been together for decades. There is a comfortable familiarity that I usually only get to photograph with couples who’ve been married for awhile. Even through long distance, they make special efforts to grow in their faith and relationship and I can’t wait to capture their wedding day love story. I’ll admit I had a ridiculous amount of images the first time I tried to blog this session – oh how I wish I could share them all with you! But here is a glimpse at some of my favorites. Heidi Jo & Mike, I am so happy that you found each other. You are as ridiculously beautiful on the inside as you are on the out, and I am blessed to call you friends. Its been a joy to watch your love and relationship grow, and I can’t wait to be part of your big day in such a special way!! Enjoy the bliss of being engaged, you’ll be married before you know it! Love you guys – and enjoy! xo

Who can resist a man in uniform? Mike you are so dapper!

Emily Lapish - These are *breathtaking*. Seriously amazing work, Alicia!

Sharon - Beautiful people inside and out. Love glows on these two. Tears flow from me just looking at these pictures. Thanks for sharing!

Heidi Jo - I just looked at these again! They make me so happy :) Thank you, Alicia!

Sawyer Family Farmstead Wedding – Part 2

I loved getting to photograph the portraits and reception for Liz & Mike’s Sawyer Family Farmstead wedding in Cashier’s North Carolina. What a beautiful couple, wedding, and location!  I hope you were able to check out Part 1 of this special day, and if you haven’t, please go check it out!

I loved getting to explore all the beautiful areas of the Farmstead to capture their portraits as a newly married couple. Oh how in love & happy!! It was a beautiful fall day in Cashiers, NC, which made it the most perfect setting for a rustic wedding ceremony and reception. On top of that, I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to spend the afternoon and evening with. Liz & Mike’s Sawyer Family Farmstead wedding reception was hoppin’! Smores were being made by the campfire and dancing/singing by all. Congrats you two! It was such a joy xo

Her wedding shoes were super cute. I loved how unique and 100% Liz they were. She had them hand made on Etsy and absolutely adored them.Sawyer Family Farmstead Wedding
