Clay & Mara ~ Farm Wedding (Sneak Peek!)

Happy Memorial Day! I wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all of those who service in the military (and their spouses) for their strength, sacrifice, and courage to defend and protect for our freedoms. I have had the pleasure of photographing multiple military weddings and I’m always in awe of the sacrifices and humility that is shown. One such wedding was this past weekend at the couples farm in Northern North Carolina. Mara envisioned a Fairy Tale Farm Wedding and it all came together so beautifully. I spent a LONG time last night trying to figure out which images to sneak peek from such a special weekend. I can’t wait to share more of their wedding day story soon, but until then, here is a sneak at some of the beauty I had the honor of capturing this weekend at their gorgeous (and peaceful) wedding on the farm. Heart you Mara & Clay!! Thank you both for your service & sacrifice for our country! xox

Isn’t Mara a gorgeous bride? That dress is totally swoon-worthy!

Pat Williamson - These are absolutely stunning. It looks like it was a picture perfect wedding.
Congratulations to both of you and may you have a long and joyous life together.

Date Night Thursday

I have a whole line up of blog posts coming your way soon! We are definitely in the midst of Spring Wedding Season! I’ve been enjoying all the engagement sessions & weddings I’ve photographed so far! The blog and fb page are going to get REAL busy here soon with posts!

I’ve been reflecting on what to post for this weeks Date Night Thursday and my mind keeps coming back to the same thing. This week there was a video that was going viral about a young man that has been battling cancer for a few years and made a video that he wanted to leave as a tribute & message to others. I sat at my computer and wept for the young man who passed away the very morning I was watching the video. What struck me was his contagious smile, positive energy, and AMAZING outlook on LIFE. It brings me back to the Choose Joy post & way that I’m trying to improve my outlook on life & maintain a healthy marriage. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, check out the post here. I love that this video has received so much attention, the message hits home with so much impact. Instead of sitting back and watching life pass us by, we need to love harder & go out and do the things we keep putting off till tomorrow. It really struck me that Zach felt invincible as a graduating senior about to attend college. Invincible. Wow. I’m sure the last thought in his mind was that he was going to find out he has cancer and only have a short time longer on this earth. I’m not saying we should all sit around and worry about how much time we have left – but quite the opposite, and the message that Zach carried out till his last breathe was to choose joy, live out your dreams, and LOVE with everything you have (every moment of every day). Most importantly, to tell those around us just how much they mean to us. Thank you Zach for the reminder that life is insanely precious. Thank you for the reminder to squeeze & hug on to my loved ones just a little bit longer every day and feel blessed for every.single. moment. The video speaks louder than anything I could say in this post, so I’m leaving you with the video and individual that touched my life this week. Much love friends.

Date Night Thursday

Hey there everyone!! Sorry about the blog being down last week while it was under maintenance, but now I have a shiny new branded blog to match the amazing website! What better way to showcase the new blog design by sharing a new Date Night Thursday post! We have a very special feature today – Bethany & Benjamin! On the way to our first wedding of the season in Greensboro, Bethany told me ALL about she and her husband. Especially all the fun little dates & outings they share together. I love how much they are active within the church & community. They even sing the lead performances at different musicals each year (SO cute right?) They are absolutely smitten with one another and I love watching how Bethany’s eyes light up when she talks about the love for her husband & their marriage together. Bethany makes a good point below that it’s nice when the date can involve activities that both the male & female can enjoy. I think that mini-golf (putt-putt) is a perfect spring/summer time date night that won’t break the bank!! Thank you Bethany for sharing a look into your marriage and a date you recently enjoyed! Have fun reading this weeks “Real Couple Date Night Highlight!”:

Benjamin and I have been married for almost two years come this October!!! Ahhhhh I can’t believe its already been almost two years. (How come time stops when you are in high school and goes by so quickly when you get married?) Benjamin and I met at our church in youth group. We dated for four years and were engaged for 7 months. I never wanted to be apart from him (it still is really hard for me when we are). He proposed at the Biltmore Mansion (very romantic) and set up a video camera to record the whole thing!! I grabbed the ring put it on, and then said, “Yes!!!” We said I promise I do, on October 15, 2011. It has been a crazy, fun, exciting ride! I just wish it would slow down!! God has taught us both so much and I can’t wait to see what how he uses us more together for His glory!

Well, Benjamin and I don’t like to make the “big” decision. You know, where to eat! One time we sat down in Gilligan’s (seafood restaurant) We ordered our drinks, I looked through the menu and asked if we could go to Moes instead. We paid the waitress for our drinks, gave her a tip and went to Moes across the street! Ha ha! I have such a sweet husband. On our most recent date, we went to McCalister’s for dinner (I always photograph our food), Sonic for dessert (I got a hot fudge sundae-which was delicious) and then went to Frankies for some putt-putt. Benjamin loves doing a sport like activity together, so I suggested putt-putt. I think it’s important for a date night to be fun for the guys too AND for the men to continue to date their women, even after they are married! Nothing says I love you like being told how pretty you look when you get all dressed up for a date night, having your hubby pick you up his clean truck and going somewhere fun where you can laugh together! And for me, ending the date with a Cary Grant movie, chocolate chip cookies and snuggles.

Till next week! Have a great date you’d like to share? E-mail me!! (alicia@aliciawhitephoto.com)
