Amy & David ~ Virginia Beach Ocean Front

Oh what a happy day this was. I met Amy four years ago, way back when I was just starting grad school. She was practically the first person I met upon moving to Virginia Beach. I was her graduate and research assistant for a little over a year – and we formed both a wonderful professional relationship and friendship. She watched as my business really started to blossom and my work grow every step of the way. So when I got the call that she would LOVE for me to photograph her upcoming wedding, I was beyond excited and would have traveled to the ends of the earth to photograph her special day. I am still so grateful (honored) that I was able to be part of their day in such a beautiful way. I got the chance to hang out at their house a week before the wedding with the whole family, and I loved every second of it. The house was filled with so much going on – between kids getting sick, another wanting to be driven to the pool, and a typical teen boy losing his shirt the night before they travel for the wedding. But you know what? They wouldn’t have it ANY other way and really cherish the bond and relationship they all share with one another. This family is one of my favorites and the wedding day was filled with so much emotion – centered very much on the joining of these two families into one solid and loved unit. My alarm clock blared the morning of their wedding at 5:30am and by 6:15am we were at the hotel room – I found it really special that all the kids shared in this ENTIRE day together from start to finish. Thank you to Ms. Lara Coleman for being the best second shooter & hair person ever (love you girl!) The scattered showers didn’t stop Amy & David from having their ceremony on the beach front – in fact, the rain stopped as soon as their ceremony began. They said “I do” in front of their closest friends/family as they gathered around them for a small ceremony on the beach. The breakfast reception was the perfect time to eat wonderful food and catch up/laugh with friends and family who traveled from all around for the wedding. Oh and their exit from the reception? My favorite yet. Amy & David (and all the kids!) I love you guys more than words could ever say and I’m oh-so-happy you are now in my neck of the woods! xox! Enjoy! <3

Eric & Misty ~ Uptown Charlotte Engagement (Sneak Peek!)

Here’s a little late night sneak peek into the fun we had in Uptown Charlotte for their engagement portraits! We had so much fun trying new locations & ideas — thank you Eric & Misty for being so easy going and adorable together. I love how you both make each other laugh (constantly) and the chemistry you share is so special! By the end of the session I felt like we were all old friends, and I truly cherish that! For now, enjoy this sneak until the rest are posted! Be on the lookout (it was really hard to narrow these down!) Enjoy!

Johannah & Mike ~ Uptown Charlotte Engagement

Oh – this session (and couple) made my heart flutter with happiness. We met on a Friday afternoon, and as I stepped out of my car rain drops starting sprinkling down. We sat down at a local wine bar and chatted, hoping the rain would pass and we could carry on the session in uptown Charlotte. We decided it would be best to meet up the next day, crossing our fingers tight that the rain would hold up. We met at The Green the next day – it was a beautiful day as the previous rains seemed to melt away SOME of the southern humidity we’ve been experiencing. Johannah & Mike have SUCH an ease with one another. They are tender, kind, and very much in love. It is sessions like these that remind me of how blessed I am to photograph such loving exchanges. It truly is a gift to be allowed into a couples inner emotional world for a few hours. Time seemed to fly by as we laughed and got to know one another. I love when couples can really enjoy the session and melt into one another, allowing me to capture the real emotion and intimacy between them.  We all laughed throughout the session because a few months prior, they weren’t interested in having engagement pictures taken! I highly highly recommend that all couples get them taken. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get used to a camera in front of you and to get to know your photographer better. As a wedding day photographer, I am literally with the bride/groom more than any other person on their special day. It helps create a relationship and helps in getting to know one another before that big day so that you know your photographers working style and personality. PLUS now you have non-wedding day images to hang around the house in addition to the wedding pictures. Johannah & Mike, I’m so so excited for your upcoming wedding day. You two have something truly special – you share such a magical emotional love. It was SUCH a pleasure and I am so happy to call you both friends. They both mentioned at the end of the session they really felt like this was meant to be – and I couldn’t agree more. xoxo. Enjoy the glimpse into some of my favorites from the session!
