Transformation ~ Personal Post

Two nights ago I spent a good amount of time writing my 101 goals in 1001 days. I’ve seen this generating around the photography community and after a personal push of a mutual friend and photographer, I decided to take the plunge. This was no easy task, conjuring up realistic and fun goals for the next couple years of my personal life and business pursuits. I’m not going to lie – my poor journal is missing quite a few pages. I would get done with a page and decide the writing wasn’t perfect enough or one of the goals didn’t seem “right” for this project. I finally just let my brain flow and let the numbers add up on the paper before me. Even as I brushed my teeth that night I thought of more and more goals I would like to add – before I knew it, I had more than 101. But you know what, there is nothing wrong with dreaming and goal setting. Having studied psychology for many years (well, and personal practice), I’ve learned it’s best to set realistic goals as to not get overwhelmed and shut down from ever completing any of the things I set out to pursue. Some of them are a bit “grand” (hey, I’m a dreamer), but I’m going to start 2012 right by not only dreaming – but kicking butt to “do” it. More than a few of my goals involve organization and overall confidence in myself. I got a text from a good friend the other day showing off amazing outfits of things she put together from items she already owned in her closet. As I have been trying to cleanse my life (and clean my closet), I took a good look around the clothes I already owned. In the back of the closet in a zippered bag was a suit that hadn’t been worn since graduate school interviews years ago. A light bulb went off and I put on a sparkly striped top to see how it would go with the blazer that had been hiding. I love that I could take an item that hadn’t been worn for years and transform it into an awesome and fun outfit (that I feel confident in)! I’ve been told by a few people I look like Tina Fey (30 Rock) with this outfit. Maybe I won’t need to try that hard next Halloween eh? Life – especially in this new year, is all about cleansing, growth, and transformation. Start looking at what you already have (both inside and out), and transform it into a new and confident YOU for 2012. Whoop Whoop!

Mary Marantz - Love it!! The outfit looks great!
